United Methodist Fair Trade Market Contest Through the direction of Kellee K. Sikes, Manchester United Methodist Church, founded the Fair Trade Market (www.manchesterumc.org/ftm) that has grown since 2003 to be one of the largest fair trade markets in the country. In a MissionCast (http://www.momissioncast.com/?p=212) Kellee tells why it would be great if more and more churches would sponsor fair trade markets. Any church large or small can do so. To offer encouragement Kellee is offering two prizes:
1) In 2010 a $500 reward to the congregation that sponsors a market for the first time in 2010 and sells the most fair trade items in gross dollars per capita for their church membership. The $500 reward is made available via the honorarium Kellee received with the Social Justice Ministries award at the 2010 Missouri Annual Conference, in Springfield, in June.
2) A second $500 reward will go to the congregation that sponsors a market for the first time in 2011 that uses the most volunteers per capita in their 2011 market. The $500 reward is made available via donation from Kellee’s company P3 Strategies, Inc. www.P3StrategiesInc.com
