Pigs for Hope and Health in Haiti is part of a new project called Rural Entrepreneurs for Agricultural Cooperation in Haiti (REACH). The reason? Families are still feeling the effects of the 2010 earthquake that destroyed much of their country. In addition, farming is a vital part of the Haitian economy. There are 800,000 to one million small farms in Haiti with farmers earning an average of $50/month.

The goal of this effort is to help 20,250 households Methods will include combining livestock and crop inputs for integrated farming, improving husbandry techniques, providing business training and market linkages and more. Pig breeding centers will be established as part of this effort.

Please meet our challenge by contributing the original piggy bank! Fund one or more pigs at $150 per pig.

Seeds of Change in Arkansas and Appalachia is a new project that will help to organize and provide resources and support for local communities to fight hunger, poverty and environmental degradation. The project is located in two regions; the Arkansas Delta and the high Appalachia regions of North Carolina and Tennessee. Heifer will engage entire communities in this effort. School curriculums will be provided to teach the direct link between health and diet, gardening techniques and back yard gardening. Garden plots will be developed for hands-on training.

To change the lives of these vulnerable families, we challenge you to provide one or more or all of the following:
